At Kel-Mor one of the partnerships we’re incredibly proud of is our long-standing support of the Chilliwack Chiefs, a team that means as much to the Fraser Valley as any local tradition.

Kel-Mor Visits The Chilliwack Chief's

Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting the Chiefs at the Chilliwack Coliseum with Barry Douglas, the team’s Vice-President. He gave us an insider’s tour that reminded us just how much pride, effort, and heart go into building a winning club both on and off the ice.

Proud History and Local Pride

The Chiefs are a hockey team and a community institution. Kel-Mor has supported the team as a sponsor for over 25 years, because they embody the values of teamwork, local talent development, and community that are at the heart of Kel-Mor.

The Chiefs have had unforgettable moments, such as winning the RBC Cup in 2018 and earning recognition for their positive impact on the community in 2021. It’s been inspiring to be on that journey with them sharing the highs, lows, growth, and experiences that make local sport special.

More Than Games: Community-Focused Events

Beyond game nights, the teams Colosseum hosts themed community events that brings locals together for meaningful causes. Food drives like “Fill the rink for the food bank,” supports local charities within the community and other nights shine a spotlight on the first responders and service workers that makes our city safer and stronger.

The Chiefs mascot, a spirited cow named Bell, adds energy and joy to games, and with an active social community of supporters, the buzz of the Chiefs hockey extends far beyond the Coliseum.

Young Players, Big Commitment

The players themselves range in age from roughly 16 to 20 and practise hard six days of the week. Their dedication is impressive, and it shows on the ice. Leaders emerge, talent grows, and these young athletes carry the community’s pride with them every game. Barry’s favourite part of his role is watching that evolution, seeing players grow not just in skill but in leadership and character.

Some alumni have even moved on to professional opportunities with NHL teams, including the Vegas Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks, which is a testament to the high bar set by the teams leadership.

Family Traditions and Half-Time Fun

At Kel-Mor, we love being part of the local fabric. You might have seen our brand on one of the Chiefs’ jerseys, represented by Auld, whose dad was a former Vancouver Canucks player. Or maybe you’ve spotted our mini dump truck on the ice at half-time. It's a playful mini version of our delivery dump trucks used daily to drop off Kel-Mor aggregates.

We’re also excited to share that our mini dump truck is getting a makeover before the start of the next season. Keep an eye out for the upgraded version on the ice, it’ll be even sharper and modernised.

Exciting Events Ahead

Looking forward, the Chiefs have some great community dates on the calendar. On May 16, 2026, they’re hosting an exciting event - Stars on Ice. They’re also planning Fan Appreciation Day on March 29, 2026. Kel-Mor is excited to announce that we are teaming up with the Chiefs on a special limited-edition collaboration that we believe fans will love.

It’s a celebration of two local grassroots staples — the Chiefs and Kel-Mor.

A Homegrown Partnership That Lasts

The Chilliwack Chiefs are a core part of community life here. There’s a gym for locals and a second rink that hosts community skating and games, making the Coliseum a gathering place for families, friends, and neighbours alike.

We’re honoured to be part of their story and look forward to supporting homegrown talent for decades to come. Barry’s passion for the team, the players, and the community was clear from the moment we stepped into the Coliseum, and that’s exactly the kind of spirit we’re proud to stand beside.
